Awesome! There is a school of thought that favours wort chillers that are a little more eccentric. Love yours. Very efficient by the sound of it too.

Have a read before you tidy up your chiller.

Ah, that ol' chestnut of a thread, good times, good times...

Think I need to add more plumbers tape to my unions between the flared fitting and the tap connectors, got a couple of leaks on my test run.

Fortunately, I had the frame of mind to bend the lengths that extend out from the coil slightly downwards, so the leaking water from my tank wasn't running back into my wort.

Thanks Dude. I'm not going to bother trying to tidy up my chiller. It's efficient enough and any gains would only be small. I will be interested to see how it goes when it's not so cold.

Someone remind me tomorrow to post a comparison and pics between my coil and birds nest ICs. Might also have the coil one up for grabs soon.

PM sent Florian. Keen to hear the result. Don't forget photos.

I'll not build one as I've a thousand other ways to improve my beer - Yes I'm that bad - but I wonder if a conical IC would allow a vigorous whilrpool even if it was left in until it hits pitching temp. I left my IC in the wort last time I brewed. I saved some time and got the same result as when I remove it and whirlpool. Only tried it once so it's hardly science but I'll do it again.
