Since getting the brau my grainfather sits in the corner as an expensive sparge heater with a pump.

Same here but in reverse, my BM played second fiddle to the Guten just providing the sparge water, but I figure I will use both equally now.

When I got my gf I was bitterly disappointed at the build quality.
The top and bottom plates were somewhat bent thin and never fit properly.
The top plate gasket. Is a pain in the ass, the bm goes together so smoothly.
The side recurc arm fell off and had to be welded back on.
The support ring that holds the basket up in the sparge failed twice to the point I purchased a hoist to raise the basket for safety. This hoist is in use now with the bm.
There were dents and scratches inside the unit with a half assed polish job. I purchased a second unit for work and that one was a little better in its fit and finish but. And this is the biggest one.
The bm came perfectly finished properly packed and works perfectly.
For the thousand odd dollars I payed for the gf i expected too much I suppose.
