G'day all, hope you are all keeping cool in this heat with your favourite brew!!Just wanted to say Hello and introduce myself but didnt know where to post this, so i thought in the beginner section, as i am VERY much a beginner.

I have always been intrigued by home brewing, reminiscing of old times when i used to wake up to exploding glass stubbies as a child when my silly old coot of a father used to home brew (Although i must say the man KNEW how to brew...but as i did my taste tests as a minor...ssshhh) Now i have finally, 20 years later decided to venture into home brewing, and PET bottles for now..... I have bought a few books on the subject, read a lot on the net and am now in day 2 of my first ferment. Unfortunately due to my Noobness i bought the coopers micro brew kit and am just brewing the lager tin contained within it, but still look forward to sampling my work. I want to Eventually venture into my own 'custom' brews ...with dreams to create a Maredsous or Grimbergen Tripel...my favourite beer....
My wife is even keen to give brewing (or distilling) a go too!!! gotta love that gal o mine!!

I am by 'trade' a scientist and medical specialist/Biologist so i can always offer help when all science-y questions arise and am happy to help wherever i may.

I wish you all luck and hope it aint as hot where you are as it is here in Bendigo

Great to hear your entering the world of home brewing! Before you mix up your next brew post up your recipe and we will all make sure your on the right track and offer any tips/advice on hopefully how to make it taste that little bit better. Here is a link to John Palmers "How to brew", good read http://www.howtobrew.com/section1/index.html . Welcome to the forums :beerbang:

Welcome and and here is a tip.
Brew on, read about brewing then ask question where applicable.
Simplest way is of couse is to try each brewing change one step at a time
Much easier said then done.

Enjoy one of the better forum around in OZ.
Plusr check all its links and capabilities.

Here is some good info about brewing from G & G our sponsor.
Brewing info

thankyou guys, they are two good links right there!!! lots of great info. I will definately post up my recipies and ask a lot of info.... i have loved drinking beer for ages, but feel brewing is a great way to enjoy it and make some special brews, the wife especially is interested in a raspberry/honey blonde blend..... and i am very intrigued in the whole kits and bits thing..... but an ingredient At a time is a good idea, i am more likely to get too excited and invent 'ass brew'

Thanks for the info guys and ill be back soon with my new recipe as soon as my first new batch is bottled, which is the coopers lager that comes in the coopers micro brew kit, but with brew enhancer 1 instead of brewing sugar. Next i plan to do a corona clone but want to add something special to it...like lime infused or...??

and flame away, i know corona is for wankers most of the time, but live in mexico for years and NOT drink it :D

Ahhh.. a science nerd <_< . I reckon you are gonna be all over All Grain Brewing like a mad dog's shit.
Its got science popping out all over the place!
;)

I have been reading about All Grain and it is definately intruiging, and i am raring to give it a go, but as i stated before, if i jump into this too early, ass brew will be the flavor of the month!!

Hello aeren, welcome to the forum. I hope you can benefit from the wealth of knowledge on this forum. I still consider myself a beginner and am learning something new from here every day.

Is it just me, or has there been a run of new members joining in the last week talking about their favourite beer being Corona, and more specifically beer infused with lime?

*cough* Troll *cough*

Perhaps the hot weather has just inspired a whole lot of people to try home brewing.
