Thinking of mixing all of the open bags of hops that I have in the freezer. Giving them a good mix and making an ipa with 15g at 60, 40g at 15-20, 40g at 0 and dry hop with 90g to an estimated ibu of who the f@#k knows. Anyone tried this? How'd it turn out.

I've done one. Turned out really well. Having said that, looking at my beersmith log, it was dregs of chinook, centennial, galaxy and simcoe, and they all go fairly well together anyway with the possible exception of the galaxy...

I did it entirely late-hops though (jamil-style hopburst). 90ibu with nothing in earlier than 15 minutes. 85grams at 15, 50 grams at 5, ~150grams split between cube hops and dry-hops.

EDIT - tinseth that is

Yeah I'm getting a big collection. I've got Amarillo Simcoe galaxy Chinook Columbus motueka cascade mosaic fuggles and probably a couple of others I havent used in a while

I think I might try this. Right now I can think of the following sitting in my freezer at home:

Citra
Bobek (unopened 90g packet)
Willamette
Cascade
Amarillo
Centennial
Nelson Sauvin

Grain could be 95% Pale 5% Caramalt as per Brewdog's Punk IPA.

I'm thinking mix them all together and then divide evenly between cube hop and dry hop as has been mentioned.

Oh and a suggestion for an alternate name - "Freezer Burn" IPA...

Just tallied up all the hops in my freezer:

Magnum - 59g
Bobek 5.9% - 123g
Mosaic 11.3% - 70g
Cascade (I think) - 65g
Fuggles 4.6% - 22g
Citra 14.1% - 25g
Nelson Sauvin - 23g
Wilamette - 42g
Mystery - 8g
Amarillo 9.5% - 63g
Cascade 6.6% - 55g

That's a whopping 555g of hops in one 19L brew. I don't know if I should split them up by AA% or if that is overthinking it.

Id throw magnum at it for 60mins to = 37ibu.

Amarillo at 30mins to 10ibu

Then a healthy hopstand or whirlpool addition of 28g each for 10mins, likely to be another 10-15ibu

Mosaic
Cascade
Bobek
Amarillo

Dry hop with 28g each of:

Citra
Nelson Sauvin
Cascade

That sounds good, but I also like the idea of just mixing them all together and taking the average AA% for a rough idea of bitterness and then throwing half in the cube and half in dry-hop

Here is my Freezer Burn IPA recipe:

Est Original Gravity: 1.061 SG
Est Final Gravity: 1.012 SG
Estimated Alcohol by Vol: 6.5 %
Bitterness: 67.7 IBUs
Est Color: 13.8 EBC

6.00 kg Pale Malt (2 Row) US (3.9 EBC) Grain 1 96.8 %
0.20 kg Caramel/Crystal Malt - 60L (118.2 EBC) Grain 2 3.2 %

22.00 g Fuggles [4.60 %] - Boil 15.0 min Hop 3 6.2 IBUs
20.00 g Amarillo [9.50 %] - Boil 15.0 min Hop 4 11.6 IBUs
20.00 g Bobek [5.90 %] - Boil 15.0 min Hop 5 7.2 IBUs
20.00 g Cascade [6.60 %] - Boil 15.0 min Hop 6 8.1 IBUs
20.00 g Magnum [12.00 %] - Boil 15.0 min Hop 7 14.7 IBUs
20.00 g Mosaic (HBC 369) [11.30 %] - Boil 15.0 min Hop 8 13.8 IBUs
20.00 g Willamette, New Zealand [5.00 %] - Boil 15.0 min Hop 9 6.1 IBUs
1.0 pkg Safale American (DCL/Fermentis #US-05) [50.28 ml] Yeast 10 -

100.00 g Cascade [6.60 %] - Dry Hop 4.0 Days Hop 11 0.0 IBUs
50.00 g Mosaic (HBC 369) [11.30 %] - Dry Hop 4.0 Days Hop 12 0.0 IBUs
43.00 g Amarillo [9.50 %] - Dry Hop 4.0 Days Hop 13 0.0 IBUs
39.00 g Magnum [12.00 %] - Dry Hop 4.0 Days Hop 14 0.0 IBUs
25.00 g Citra [12.00 %] - Dry Hop 4.0 Days Hop 15 0.0 IBUs
23.00 g Nelson Sauvin [12.00 %] - Dry Hop 4.0 Days Hop 16 0.0 IBUs
22.00 g Willamette, New Zealand [5.00 %] - Dry Hop 4.0 Days

All 15min hops are cube additions. I went with the Feral Hop Hog supposed grain bill, and I'll probably pitch two packs of US-05 to ensure I have enough cells.

I'll be brewing it this weekend.

That looks like utter madness.
Be very interested to hear how it goes.

Looks alright - I think that hop combo could work.

Personally I'd push fuggles back to 60 and maybe one of the others that has dank/resin as a characteristic to accompany.
Definitely 2 packs.

Using any gypsum?

This looks like a monster.

Yeah I'll be shooting for a hop forward profile with minerals. You think the fuggles would clash with the other hops in late addition?

Personal taste - some like late fuggles but I think the earthiness would balance the fruitiness better as an earlier addition.

But hey - it's a once off, chuck it in and see what happens, never to be repeated type so maybe just go for it. These things can be overthunk.

I ended up with an OG of 1.063 for this yesterday. I purchased Pilsner malt by mistake so it will be a little lighter in colour and I boiled for 90min as I've read you need to boil longer to avoid DMS off-flavour.

The scent coming out of the cube with all those hops was incredible. Will most likely pitch this tomorrow night.

This is now sitting at 2deg waiting patiently for a tap to open up. Should be on tap next weekend but a quick sample revealed a wonderful aroma. Quite bitter but that was in the recipe. Really looking forward to gassing this up.

I finally tasted Freezer Burn yesterday - outstanding. I reckon it has the perfect balance between alcohol, bitterness and hoppiness. And I'll never buy that many hops in one go so it may never be done again. I'll drink it while it's fresh.

Finally having a crack at this tomorrow. It will be a 10 hop freezer burn using 20g each of cascade, challenger, styrian golding, Ella, galaxy, motueka, Mosaic, chinook, Columbus and EKG. Should have an average A.A of 9%. I'll be mixing them all up and adding 15g at 60m, 40g at 20m, 50g at flameout and a 95g dry hop. This will be on a base of 86% BB ale, 9% Vienna and 5% light crystal. If all goes to plan it'll come out at 5.7% and 47.7 ibu.
