I'm doing my first real lager, it's been fermenting for 10 days today so i racked to secondary. Then i realised that i should have done a diacetyl rest before i racked. I've put the heat belt on set to 20C now, but is it already to late? will there be enough yeast left after racking for a diacetyl rest to do it's job?

i made the same mistake, and found that it worked, does it taste like diacetyl

To be honest, I have no idea if it tastes like diacetyl, but thought it sounded worth doing the rest anyhow

What was the SG when you racked ?

1025, down from 1075

fermentables were 1.7kg bav lager kit, ~2.1kg of light dried malt and 500g of dextrose, so that is around the range i expected for the SG

Try having a Violet Crumble with the chocolate scraped off (so its just the honeycomb) followed by a mouthful of beer or vice versa. It's really close.
