I had a brew day go bad yesterday. I was escorted from the brew shed by paramedics after collapsing part way through. I'm fine now but my wort (now in cubes) had some issues. My mate finished off the boil without me and he forgot to add the 60min hops. It has only 2g/L of WGV added at whirlpool.

My question is, how can I bitter the batch now that is sitting cool in cubes?

I would hazard a guess and say put it back in the kettle and add more hops than prescibed and boil for twenty minutes, hope you are ok.

Thanks mate i should be fine.

I wondered if the bittering hop dose boiled in a few litres of water for 60min and added to the fermenter would work

LOL should you still be drinking and great mate to come to you in your hour of need!

im impressed you had to be carted off by paramedics and you are still concerned about finishing off your brew day! legendary haha

hope all is okay!

Haha yeah well we're brewing the batch for his wedding day so he felt some obligation to finish it off I suppose.

I'm sitting on my arse in Wollongong hospital now so what else am I gonna think about

Love your commitment but sheesh. Look after yourself mate. We want you to be able to enjoy the product of your labour.

Thanks mate its all a precaution I'm really quite well.

I owe it to this bloke to deliver great beer on his wedding night. He may have saved my life

get some isohop. I think grain and grape sell it. a few ml to bitter a keg.

edit: yes they sell it here. I think this will solve the issue.

Was at Grain & Grape this afternoon. They are out of stock unfortunately. Anywhere else in Melbourne? I also need some.

Yeah definitely isohop... boiling hops in water wouldn't be great, hop utilisation is affected by wort gravity, the further you stray from 1040 in either direction rhe worse it gets....

Depending on time, I would brew again, considering the occasion, I wouldn't want to chance a ****** result. The wort as it is would give you a good supply of starter wort!
