paying for the brand quality i guess... these are more than that new, but personally I'd probably go a cheaper alternative for my personal brewing setup

Not to say this would always be the case, but I dropped my 3L Scott Duran 1 metre to a concrete floor and it bounced back up to my hand. I just happened to have the cash to go hard when I bought them. Totally feel it was worth it. They've fallen over, off the counter, out of my hand, and out of seven flasks nary a crack. Worth it? Up to you.

However, I've heard tell of counterfeit ones. Check the trace back number on the flasks you buy, printed on the front. You can check them on the Schott website.

Do you have a link to where I can check the authenticity of my Schott flask Mardoo?

I have a 500ml one that I bought from the LHBS for $9 a few years ago. I now have the overwhelming desire to see if it bounces on concrete but can’t find where to check the trace back number on the web site.

These are from the only importer in NSW. I didn't buy these second hand. The company I bought them from has been in lab supplies for'
over 30 years and they deal with hospitals, universities, vet and analytical labs , schools etc..
They will break if dropped on concrete or the like but I hold large flasks underneath (if it isn't too hot ) and around the neck just to be safe.

No mate sorry , I just did an order for me and a few guys around the south coast here , we got 1 L , 3L and 5 L FLASKS ,nothing
smaller, this one ended up being spare. If there was a demand for them I would do another order , it just takes a while for them
to come in now as suppliers only keep on the shelf things they sell all the time. It's not like the good old days when I started in a
lab 30 years ago and things would turn up the same week you ordered them. There are other brands and cheaper but in this case
you get what you pay for.

Hmmmm S.E, do you have one of those t-shirts that says Poor Impulse Conttol? ;)
I did have but it went up in flames when I was told you can’t sit on a BBQ for more than 10 seconds.

Edit: Why do you ask?

It appears high quality doesn't sell as fast.
I'll sell it at cost price plus postage.
ie $ 82 plus postage .

could someone point me in the right direction for the purchase of a 5000ml schott flask?

Digital Homebrew might be able to direct you to a source. They used to bring them in, but stopped selling glassware. They're not easy to come by at the moment, AFAIK.
