This bulk buy applies to only people in the Brisbane Area. (anybody else can order direct themselves and save on postage)
www.livingstone.com.au
I ordered from Livingstone before. They have cheap lab gear. They are based in Sydney but do mail order. They have good prices and postage is normally a flat rate regardless of how much you are ordering if a few of people want to go in for an order for lab equipment get in touch.
I can distribute the lab glass at the Brisbane Yeast Swap day.
So far I am looking at:

(for yeast plating, you can get better efficiency but the price goes way up)

GLPF1000L 100 IN A BOX powder free $8.75 (1 for me)
GLASSWARE
Reagent bottles
Borosilicate Glass, Graduated with Screw cap and Pouring Ring Simax (cheaper version of Schott Duran, which is also available)
DB0250S 250ml $5.50 (4 for me, they also hold a stir bar ok)
DB0500S 500ml $6.71 (1 for me, yet to see if it fits in my pressure cooker)
DB100S 1000ml $8.96 (I had one of these but dropped it, however did not fit into my pressure cooker so I am not getting another one)
DB200S 2000ml $18.26 (yep they surely do jump in price for large capacity bottles)
Flasks, Erlenmeyer
417119100 100ml $3.30
417119500 500ml $4.51 (2 for me)

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT MORE
I am thinking abut some disposable syringes with needles
Polyethylene with stainless steel needle, sterile
T3SS-2S2138A 3ml 21G x 38mm, 0.80mm OD Box of 100 $20.37
If anybody is interested in splitting it?
I have it in mind for sterile transfers from smack packs and the like. The Syringes I am looking at have a needle and are disposable, but they are only 3ml (maybe I should look at something with a greater capacity) but if I am thinking of sucking yeast from smack packs, I could suck up some sterile water, stick the smack pack, lightly flame the needle cap and put in the fridge for storage, or just use it to stick the smack packs.
The other options is to go for a glass syringe and re-useable needle that is autoclaveable
Syringes are also great for accurately measuring out your sanitiser if using iodine or phosphoric acid. (anybody got any feedback about this, the only plus for re-useable is not sharps to dispose of)
I am also thinking about 70% isopropry alcohol 5L for $37.40
Alcohol, 70% ethanol and 30% water is the ideal ratio for sanitising
I would want to split this, but not sure if it is at a good price (warrants further investigation)
