Interested to see if there are any brewers in the far north coast wanting to be involved in a brew club, possibly with support from a local brewery.
What say ye?

Yeah, I would be interested.

The only brewery around is Northen Rivers Brewery at Alstoneville

Was born and bred in Rous/Alstonville - but live in Sydney now. Can I still be an honorary member? :p

But may be of interest to local Northern Rivers brewers and history buffs. My other hobby is photographing old Aussie Terraces and streetscapes and here's a piccie of a pair I sussed out in Maclean. It's actually the old Brewery built in 1882. The brewery closed down and in 1915 it was converted into a pair of terraces and later renovated in the 1970s - hence the aluminium window etc. The frame of the building is solid sandstone.

You can just imagine a drayload of beer thundering out of the archway on the way to the pubs.. no need for craft brewers in those days, they were all over the place :beerbang:

There are a few places in Byron:

Buddha bar

(have not been there or tried their stuff)

Stone and Wood

Many know the beers from here. Brad Rogers is a legend in the brewing world (Matilda Bay etc), and his new brewer Scott (formerly of Sunshine Coast Brewery) is a brewing force of nature (and once brewed the second best beer in the country..sorry Cougar!)

It's a shame the Alstonville one closed down as that's where I now live. I hear a rumour it may reopen.
