A guy a work forwarded this to me. Probably too advanced for me as i am still BIAB and have not setup a fridgemate for fermenation but would be great to see someone set one up. Could be good for brewing while on holiday. :)

Below is a little idea of what it does.
BrewTroller is an open source standalone brewing control system based on tfhe Sanguino platform. BrewTroller monitors temperature and volume of the Hot Liquor Tank (HLT), Mash Tun and Brew Kettle and controls heat sources, pumps and valves as needed in the brewing process. BrewTroller supports PID control of heating elements making it an inexpensive solution replacing up to four PID controllers.

Here's quick overview of BrewTroller features:

  • (4) PID or On/Off controlled heat outputs (HLT, Mash, Kettle and Steam Heat for support of steam infusion mashes)
  • (32) Pump and Valve On/Off outputs (Using up to 4 optional MUX boards providing 8 outputs each)
  • (6) Temperature sensors (HLT, Mash, Kettle, CFC H2O IN, CFC H2O Out and CFC Beer Out)
  • (3) Optional Volume sensors (pressure transducers) used to measure HLT, Mash and Kettle volume (currently being tested)
  • (1) Optional Steam Pressure sensor for controlling steam heat
  • Simple encoder input providing iPod like controls (rotate left, rotate right, click for enter, click and hold for cancel)
  • 20 column, 4 row backlit LCD character display (Screenshots)

I bought the brewing control system BCS-460 for my brew system. I posted info about it and my brew system setup for general awareness and keen to chat about it with others who have the system as well or thinking of it and it's pro's and con's. Unfortunitely I'm alone here in Australia with my choice of Brew system controller, so unable to bounch ideas and generally chat about it's operation.

I'm sure these posts were to hear peoples thoughts on these systems if being used here in Australia.
