I brewed a double batch of Belgian inspired Ale today:

I took some pics to prove that AG brewing is fun, cathartic and you get beer at the end of it all.
I know a couple of rocket scientists and they were not involved whatsoever.
(i take photos for a living so take these quick grabs as what they are, just snaps, not proper shots)

i haven't really tried this Galaxy before so i had a heap left. no other reason for it being in the "recipe", which has been created by pure arse alone. No prosmith, but maybe a little brew magic (thank you again S Jobs, i love you h34r: ).

i did add almost my last dregs or Maris Otter which is a bloody beeeoooty for a malty beer. my 1st AG was 100% MO and i have very fond memories of that beer. the pictured is a jar full of cararoma. another 1st use for me, thanks suppliers, you rock! :super:

into the 1/100th horsepower mill. i've noticed my husks are holding together a lot better in the rare Adelaide humid weather. I might start giving the grain a spray (as mentioned in book somewhere) before milling. I milled all the grain the previous day. The rolled oats amazingly almost stayed intact.

bang the lid on, set the specialK timer (that's not a drug metaphore) and f*&k off for 1 & 1/2 hours apart from an occasional stir and temp check. she's a tad hot at around the 68C mark but i want a long term sweet port kind of ale here so i let it go. also i had no more room to go with additions, the cooler chockers. A couple of batch sparges later into a handy spare fermenter and a big pot, it's back into the kettle.

thanks to a 90 minute boil, and a low hopped beer, my 1st hopping is at 40mins to flameout, so luckily a soft rolling boil reduces my volume before the hop 1st hop additions.

pacific gem and nelson sauvin - a double barreled high aa blast to the kettle, but only 10g each to start.

even though i had a lot of space for my last additions i still get a hop boilover. my wort rejects my out of profile late hop addition and View attachment 6105 regurgitates it out around the edge of the kettle. Best 2 boilovers ever! nothing got to the floor and I wasn't in the kitchen. Life is a fluid chain of events, you move on.
after a quick chill with about 60L of water, kept in drums for garden and potplant use,

I've got 2x 18L brews. After reading Mercs 2x yeast post i'm about to innoculate with 1 trappist ale and 1 belgian strong ale. (sorry accountants, i don't do yeast numbers)
and Bingo Bango, beer for all!
