Has anyone used cheap 0.5 micron either PP or string wound filter cartridges for filtering beer?
Assuming contamination issues could be controlled, my idea is to buy a box of like $2-$3 cartridges and (for the times I filter - probably one in 5 brews) just chuck the cartridge out when I'm finished. I do have a proper cartridge from Ross which works well, but I find cleaning the thing to be too much of a PITA. Makes filtering unattractive!
At $2 or so a brew (50L) I could justify that cost
Any experience? I just don't know if the filter would really do the job...?
