Too bad, the old 750s were reusable forever, withstood a fair bit of overcarbonation and in a pinch doubled nicely for milling grain.

I get a bit of mail from some beer packaging companies, over the last couple of years there has been a quiet revolution in bottle design.

The difference between "Toughened" glass and window glass is the way its heat treated. You can send a piece of glass of to a factory and have it toughened.
Outcome is bottles that are just as strong or stronger and use upto 45% less glass and a crap load less energy to produce. With all the talk about supply chains and the cost of transporting (both monetary and environmental) it makse a lot of sense and it's here to stay.
