Did a triple batch 60 odd L to get some quoffers and fill an empty 220L olive drum, was wondering about input on the recipe


mongrel quoffer

GRAIN

5kg JW Ale
200g rolled barley
200g Cara Munich II
100g Carapills


ADJUNCTS

2kg rice malt (liquid)
1kg white sugar (cane)
1can Coopers Draft
1can Coopers Real Ale


HOPS

13.3g cascade (60min) hops
13.3g cascade (20min) hops
13.3g cascade (0min) hops


YEAST

2 x coopers kit yeast


1hr BIAB 68c strike temp dropped to 65 by the end of an hour

80min boil (my friend was watching it and couldn't find me for 20min)

watered down to aprox 60L og1044




Had another brew mashing while the first was boiling so it was boiling in 3pots as i only have one pot big enough to hold enough wort, only one was boiled for 80 the other 2 were just boiling when i got to them

While you'll get hops from the 2-cans, given that Cascade is about 6-7% AA (I think), I'd have used more bittering hops in that one. But I guess if you're emulating mega-swill they have virtually no hop bitterness so you might be on target anyway. :)
Also for 60L @ 1.044, 4x 7g (pretty sure Coopers are 7g) yeast packets are closer to the recommended pitching rate.

Think I'd be happy helping you drink the 2nd batch though. :icon_chickcheers:

yep the cascade is 7.8 so it worked out alright (well i could taste the bitterness in the finished wort), and yep it was cos ppl were coming round and not appreciating my fine beers, so i thought i'd give them some chuggers.

and no probs be happy to have ya round to sample the Amarillo Ale (what a great hop) :party:
