Chinese Hops? What Next

here is a thought right off the top of my head

Remember you would have to enclose a return ebnvelope when you wrote away for something. That was not cost cutting, BUT saved a heap of time for some-one returning the information.

Another thought to think about

What if you bought the prepaid packages yourself, and then mailed them to where the hops are packed. You put on them the address, running arround to the post office, etc, and all the packer has to do is load and drop them off at the mail box.

Not fussy any which way it happens but i do believe there needs to be a $1 or $2 per kilo compensation for you townsy if you end up having to pack all hops because its certainly going to be a full days exercise if not close to 2
At the current number of 150ppl that should allow you to put $300 in your pocket which i think is only just getting close to compensation for the amount of work involved

Well, it's your BB so the decision is yours. I would think though, that you should draw your line in the sand based on existing
pre orders.

ie. if theres 250Kg pre ordered ( or near enough) call it quits there or wherever higher than that you feel comfortable with.
Don't stop at 200 if theres 300 pre ordered. (reminds me of retrospective legislation. nyaargh - don't get me started)

As far as distribution and compensation for your time, don't think anyone would have a problem with that being factored
in to the final cost. (Unless you used to be a Mexican Telco president :lol: )

Great idea of everyone buying a prepaid envelope and addressing it themselves......

I don't believe that creating a distribution hub in each state would save much, double handling etc. Be much easier for 4 or 5 people in one area to get together with multiple sets of scales, a pile of ziplock bags and a check-list. One person could weigh and bag each variety and then make someone "satchel bitch" and they can just combine the ziplocks into the orders.


BTW, that list hurts my eyes, so I made a spreadsheet, currently only I can edit it, just to save someone stuffing it up accidentally.

Well done for your thorough efforts GS !!
I'm not fussed to much on which way things get done as far as distribution. I'm just happy to play with some different hops for a fraction of the cost (and am splitting my order with a mate to reduce the freezer full o stale hops factor). I'm still happy to be the central pick up/ distribution point for Perth (if the others are happy with this too).

Townsville, As others have said, your bulk buy so your rules. My thoughts are:

List above is the list. If you can't make up to 20kg's lots of a variety then you cull from the bottom up to get back to 20kg lots...and these limits should be whatever you feel comfortable with (i.e. 200, 260, 300kg?). i.e. shut it off at any point (you already have drawn a line at 60, 80, 60 earlier, so technically after that is too late, unless you want to keep it open to hit 80, 100, 80 or whatever).

As for distrubution, I'm happy for a bulk Vic lot or individual, again, whatever is easiest for you. If it's extra $$$ to send a bulk lot then re-divvy up, I'm still ahead at these cheap prices.

I have decided on concensus

2. people on the list first chop (me at the front - yes I am greedy)
3. All people to pay up front (costs to be finalised)
4. Payment in three days
5. Prepaid packages to be sent, (large orders make arrangement)
6. Items just packed in freezer bags (they will only be out of the sealed package a few days)
