I've just got into all-grain and I'm optimising my new gear.

My burner (two ring) took ages to get the 28L wort to boil. It's showing yellow flame, which I'm sure isn't right, and blackening the bottom of my kettle.

Any suggestions on how to get a hotter blue flame?

Yellow flame leads to soot and less heat than desirable to sustain a nice boil... Do you brew outside? Do you use anything to shield the flame from breeze etc? Suggest that if this is the case you start with some bricks or sheet metal to build a flame guard. Bunnings also sell ~$22 gal steel toolboxes which fit a 3 ring burner perfectly if you grind off one end - should fit a 2 ring no problem.

Are you using a high pressure regulator or a standard BBQ reg?
High pressure reg may be what you're after to deliver more oomph.

The unit should have a little brass ring just near the flow on/off tap that will tune the flow of air with the gas in. Adjust till flame blue and smoke free. Easy

All great suggestions, guys. Thanks!
I've adjusted the little screw to allow more air flow and a roaring sound can be heard. No more yellow flame or blackening of kettle.

I'll also have a go at a flame shield too. :)

Cheers boys!
