I'm hoping to do a clone of stella artios for a session beer over xmas. I've got 2 x muntons pilsner 2 x brewcraft 62 convertor, a can of morgans beer enhancer extract and SAFlager yeast ready to go down, but if anyone can give me some feedback on their attemts I can adjust the recipe if need be.

Does the 62 converter need to be boiled for the hops? For how long?

Thanks

O.K. I'll ask.

What's 62 converter and what does it contain?

cheers
Curious.

Hi,
First post.Try http://www.gtp.com.au/brewcraft/inewsfiles/better-beers.pdf More information on 62 converter.

cheers

jim

Yeah, but that has absolutely no info about what is in the converter itself. What I think burper was saying, in a roundabout kind of way, is; without knowing what the "mystery ingredients" are, its a bit hard to give specific information about tweaking. They usually contain a mixture of malt, dextrose, and maltodextrin, but in what quantities and ratios?.......
Anyones guess, really.

Flipper,

What hops?

It appears that the 62 stuff is a mix of dextrose and corn syrup, but in what
proportion, I don't know. What's the weight of the stuff? What is the size of
the brew? Surely you wouldn't use all the ingredients listed in a 23 litre brew?

Still curious.

Dave

From the description it looks like it does contain some hops in it, most likely grounded down into a powder ( ă la Franko)
"A classic malty Pilsner style. Genuine Bavarian hops provide
unmistakable aroma
. Pilsner is the style on which many Australian
beers are modelled. Theres nothing quite as good as the original
but this comes close. Add to Pilsner or lager kits."

In regard to the first question, I wouldn't boil, I think the hops are only their to give a nice aroma to the beer, so just dissolve as normal.

I've never actually used the enhancer before, so hopefully someone else can give you more info, as to what you can expect from it.

Best of luck, hope its a winner. Dave.

Ive got a Muntons Connoisseurs pilsner in the fermwenter at the moment which I used the number 62 Converter in.

You are supposed to bring the converter to the boil with 2-3L of water and let simmer for a little while before letting it cool a little. ( I cant recall how long, but it was only a matter of minutes). You also add the kit can directly into the mix while you are heating it in the pot. It does have broken hop pellets inthe converter by the way.

initial taste tests are promising, but I'm waiting for the F.G. to fall a bit more before I keg it.
