Hey Pump, do the snap on connectors clamp onto the silicone rubber hose ok? do they hold when hot?

Hey Screwtop,

i've got the exact same brass garden fittings that pumpy has as well as the silicon rubber tubing
and they hold beautifully no problems at all, never had one come loose due to heat or pressure.

infact i blocked off one end and ran a hose full pelt to test the connection strength and the hose
exploded and split but the end was still connected no problems!

they are a nice cheap reliable solution imho.

I use the same connectors as Pumpy and mine have been brilliant and trouble free. Make sure you get the ones that essentially have a barbed fitting with a brass collar that back outwards back over the hose. These hold great on the thick walled silicone hose (FWIW I got mine from both G&G and Morebeer and it was thick walled) and I love this hose. It's brilliant stuff.

Beware though as there is another type of brass connector that has a slightly different method of holding the hose (exactly like the run of the mill fittings on your standard garden hose). The thick walled silicone hose wont fit on these fittings as the wall thickness is too much.

The secret to using this hose successfully without kinks is to keep the length of your hoses as short at possible (to keep the weight of the full hose to a minimum to stop it kinking under the weight) and to plumb your brewery so that it flows well with the hose, ie no sharp turns etc. This allows you to keep them short (which saves you money too).

I've never had even a sniff of trouble with this hose collapsing on the suction side or expanding down stream of the pump when used with a march pump.

Best of luck. Worth the investment in my opinion.

Cheers, Justin

Hey thanks Rob and Justin, that's the type of brass snap on fittings I bought, got a couple for a trial. Like you say a barb with nut that screws back on the hose. Didn't like the look of the compression type for use with hot liquid.

Thanks
