I have seen a few people on here mention about their paint stirrer they got from Bunnings to use for BIAB. I am just wondering exactly what it looks like and if someone has a photo then that would be great.

I was at K&D today and they had a 600mm one for $8.99 but it was painted so I was hesitant to get it. Will a painted one matter or should I be going for something different?

The one K & D had was exactly like what's in the picture

You want one that looks like this:

Note: Not my image, but that's what I have.

I couldn't find one of these at Bunnings, went to a specialist paint store instead. The one you showed needs a stirring motion, and would likely end up caught up in the bag.

Cheers,

Ash

I have one of the first ones pictured............Used it when I was doing BIAB and still use it now in my 3V system as my mash paddle (although I now hook it up to a drill to get the mash well and truly mixed at mash in.

Never had an issue with the paint coming away from it yet...

Yeah, I also use the red one for Urn BIAB. No drill though, just a twist of the wrist. :)

Wouldn't be using a drill in BIAB anyway............Too much chance of the bag becoming entangled and busting if you ask me.

That black one looks ok. I got my metal one (as pictured earlier) from the local Dulux decorator centre about $20 IIRC

i got one from the big green shed slightly longer than the second pic. $13 ish, yellow plastic bottom, only problem is its made to but folded flat so the bottom occasionally disconnects from the stem and you have to fish it out. annoying but better than burning my fingers with the pic 2 one.

Mine used to do that too. I just put a plastic tie around them metal stem where it joins the plastic and it's been great since.

I grabbed a light weight stirrer from Bunnings with a yellow plastic flat bottom.
Only requires the up and down motion to stir the grain.
The plastic end also detaches and you can fit a paint roller...BONUS!

I also use it as a measure gauge that i have calibrated to by boil pot
