When an Activator smack pack is pitched to 2L of wort very little cell growth will occur, the yeast will get straight into fermentation and should be pitched at high activity, thats a starter, an active pitch of fermenting wort.

Screwy

That's essentially what I do. Always thought I was just being a touch lazy.

Well beer is in fermenting bucket.
The room is at 16c - 17c , i think someone said beer ferments at a higher temp?, so hopefully it should be ok.
I will put something round it if it gets too cold.
Is this right for amount of sugar for priming..

Enter the desired volumes of CO2: 3.0
Bottle Priming
Volume being bottled (5 gallons): Beer temperature at bottling (64F): Residual CO2: 0.9 volumes
Priming Ingredient:
Corn Sugar /glucose
Fermentability* (95%): This field is updated when you select a sugar (above).
Recommended quantity: 5.58 oz. (158g)
Ok, i don't know what the exact temp of the beer as of yet, when i bottle it.
I do like the head on these beers

Hi Guys,
Fermentation seems to have stop on this brew after 4 day's.
The room today was down from 16c/17c to 15c, would this have caused this, or is the fermenting process finished, and should it be over this soon?
Should i take gravity readings ove the next 3 day's just to be sure.
Thanks Clifford

Gravity is the only way to be sure it's done.
I'd test see if it is where you wanted it (expected) and bottle/keg.

I did this same brew a few months ago now and it finished at 1.012

Thanks Flash,
What temp did you ferment at and how did the beer taste.
I used. http://hbd.org/cgi-bin/recipator/recipator...ml?11821436#tag
To work out howmuch sugar for priming and got this....
Enter the desired volumes of CO2: 3.0
Bottle Priming
Volume being bottled (5 gallons): Beer temperature at bottling (64F): Residual CO2: 0.9 volumes
Priming Ingredient:
Corn Sugar /glucose
Fermentability* (95%): This field is updated when you select a sugar (above).
Recommended quantity: 5.58 oz. (158g)

Does this sound right by you, or would you change desired volumes of CO2: 3.0
