Hi everyone

Newbie here, have done 3 brews so far, but only my 3rd has had any bubbling in the airlock.

I have realised that when instructed to add the kit to 3L of boiling water, i actually added water to the 3L line for the first 2 brews, meaning i only used just over 1.5L.

They both reached FG within the stated time peroid, and taste fine, is there anything apart from overall starting temp that would be affected?

Thanks

Bubbling in the airlock doesn't mean much. The absence of any bubbling probably just means you haven't sealed it fully, eg you haven't screwed the lid on tight enough.

The boiling water mainly makes it easier to dissolve the kit syrup into the top up water and also ensures that your water won't be freezing cold (depending where you live) when you pitch the yeast.

In short: You'll be fine RDWHAHB :)

Ignore your airlock
Seriously, ignore it
Look for bubbling, foam on top and don't take your lid off!
If you're really worried, test your SG and see if there is movement
