ok so ive just installed a ball valve tap on my boiler with a copper pick up tube (inside) and silicon hose on the outside .
Done a test run with boiled water and there is no leaks but when siphoning into a bucket there was air bubbles coming out of the hose and airating the bucket?

This cant be good for the wort so was wondering if yaz no how this is happening?

My only thoughts are that the silicon hose on the barbed fitting wasnt sealed properly and sucking air in.

cheers, kingy

Whack a hose clamp on the hose join. If it is leaking air, one day it is going to leak hot wort. You do not want air bubbles in your hot wort, this is a source of HSA.

Siphoning is actually where there is no outlet at the base of the vessel and the tube runs from the base, over the lip and down into your collection vessel.
