Hi All,
First post, thanks to everyone for sharing all their experience, I just put down my first batch early this week and found it all pretty easy thanks to reading this forum.
Just wanted to post an update on the cooling bags that had been discussed in other threads back 2008-09. I rang Anaconda to see if they had a 100 can cooler bag and they said no but on going to the store I found a water tight/air tight "folding down garbage bag/waste bag" which is advertised as doubling as holding drinks and ice...
Sure enough, its not very insulated, just air tight - but I put some car UV windshield shades inside it wrapped around the fermenter with 2 1.2L bottles of ice and my ale has been brewing all week at a steady 20C without more than $35 expense.
I got mine from anaconda rockdale.
