    Frustrated Brewer

pablo_h "The sweetness fades with time though, you need to give it at least a month in the bottles." I couldn't agree more with this. My girlfriend brewed a Morgans export pilsner about 4 months ago. It was really sweet in the bottle after brewing for about 2 months but slowly faded in this...

    Esb Belgian Golden Ale 3kg

Hey all... I bought a can of ESB Belgian Golden Ale the other day from ESB Peakhurst. It comes with Safbrew T-58 yeast. Apparently it is a fairly new can from ESB so wondering how people have gone with it????? :icon_cheers:

    Which And Why?

I do love a LCPA. I seem to like the Summer style beers more than the winter ones!!! Montieths Summer Ale is a very tasty choice, ineresting flavours and very refreshing. Redback fresh from the Keg. Leffe Blonde - What can i say!!! Schofferhoffer Heffe/Kristal is a guaranteed pleasure to...

    Wheat Beer Kits

Hey OKM39A, Definately worth trying the White Labs WPL300 yeast. If it's worth doing it's worth doing well. Seems to give the best overall result. I also recomend the ESB Bavarian Wheat. Best result so far???? Let me know what you try????? Cheers

    Wheat Beer Kits

Sorry guys. Been overseas for 3 weeks and been away from the net. I have done the ESB twice which comes in a larger tin with all the liquid malt included. Both times used WhiteLabs WPL300. The second time I added 500mls of hot water soaked in fresh cracked wheat grain. I actually think the first...

    Wheat Beer Kits

Hey all, Just wondering what different peoples opinions where on some of the available kits out there. Eg different flavours. I have done the ESB kit and the Muntons kit (both really good) and just wondering what others to try. I understand there are different results from different yeasts but...

    Any One Else Get This?

Gday Eddy, I thought ales were better brewed between 20-24 not 18-20. At this temp it would take alot longer to finish brewing. Also from the brews i have done it always seems to take longer when using complex sugars like malts. Rather than dextrose. What are the usual FG's (Final Gravity) you...

    Water

I was wondering what people's opinions on water were. What water do people use in their wort. My brother uses R.O water in his brew but i don't know if it changes the brew. I have been using tap water but wonder what the rate of contamination by bacteria would be. What is the best choice for...

    Morgan's Blue Mountain Lager Question

The instructions state that it has been roll boiled and if you boil again it will destroy the hop aroma. I have read that they use a Hallertau hop oil in these cans. It must do something to the oil????

    Schofferhofer Kristal Weizen

Just an update on my original post. I have brewed 2 more wheat beers since this first brew. The second was a Muntons Wheat beer with dextrose/LME/Corn syrup and WB06. The brew went well but turned out very dark and very malty. I spoke to the brew shop about it and he thinks the can might have...

    New Zealand Trip

If you are only heading south, a really good pub to stop at but doesn't have it's own brew is "The Tap" @ Arrowtown just north of Queenstown. From memory plenty of NZ beers but also a couple of local brews. The main reason to stop in is just the personal quaint atmosphere. I have attached a...

    First Brew - Outcome

As Microbe said the ratios being alot smaller would be alot harder to get right. But we can't knock you for being really keen to brew even though you didn't have all the necessities. Good luck with the next batch and re-post how it goes. Cheers :icon_chickcheers:
