I note that a UK forum I'm on (The Home Brew Forum) ... not Jim's Beer Kit, the other one, has been bought and is now in the same family as us and Homebrewtalk.
Not that it's going to affect us at all. However I've noticed that over the last couple of years THBF has really picked up in traffic as opposed to Jim's.

I get on there every few months and saw a couple of announcments.

It also seems that over the last two weeks a lot of the old members over there have left (both voluntarily and un-voluntarily) and have since founded a new forum which seems to get a lot of traction.

Of course I'm not going to discuss this here.

One thing I found when trawling our sister forum is that them Pommies seem to be paranoid about the 'yeast scum ring' in primary fermentation, as it apparently will get your beer infected if you don't rack it into a separate vessel as soon as fermentation slows down.

Interesting to see how different theories and ideas become 'common knowledge' in these closed off environments that forums sometimes are, I'm sure we have our fair share of ideas over here that the Pommies would shake their head at.

They probably have an aversion to ads.

Discuss away,.it's only signature links that have been outlawed under the new management.

I find the British brewers to be a bit behind the times in many ways and a lot on the ball in others. They'll happily spend all day brewing a superb British IPA then shake a sachet of S-04 at it, but have some excellent kit available that we can't get here like well-built buckets o'death boilers, polypins and those brilliant pressure barrels. And they are rolling in lovely fresh hop flowers

edit: wow they certainly hit the deck running. Maybe I should join and start a thread on S-04 B)

Haha... That url has apparently been blocked as a swear word on our sister forum.

It's a good little forum however that seems to have some knowledgable people on board.

EDIT: swear not sware
