Thanks guys. You've just solidifed my resolve to brew solely electric. I'm off to get some 15A elements tomorrow.

There is nothing like the excitement of the loud whoosh as a [NASA/fill in your favourite gas burner] explodes into life. Mind you a short circuit in an immersion heat in your hand can "brighten" your day as well. A brewday without the roaring sound of gas just seems too PC for me.

The only thing better would be an open fire and a large brewpot out in the front paddock
