I'm after a double or single or 2 x single wine barrel - 225 L rack . New or second hand.
Metal ones appear to be what industry use.
I can get them from Victoria or SA but shipping is a killer.
Pick up from anywhere within a 80 km radius of Shellharbour.

We use metal ones to make stacking and moving barrels with a forklift easier. If you aren't moving the barrels often or you don't have a forklift you can make do with old fashioned stillage, which is very easy to construct at home.

To hold two barriques you need two pieces of sleeper about 1.35m long, a couple of bits of threaded rod each about 800mm long plus eight nuts / washers for same and a couple of wedges which you can cut from the excess sleeper. Four wedges is more secure.

Use the threaded rod to space the sleepers apart to make a tram track, place the barrels across the track and wedge them in place. Done.

I hadn't thought of using sleepers...great info ..thanks.

Tip: - LC is right easy to make and in some ways wedges give you more options.
Don't sand the wedges pretty isn't better in this case.
Rougher the better, just straight from the saw.
No matter what she says don't polish or wax them either
