To say the least a controversial figure, one who I both admired for some things and despised for others.
You have to read up on the conditions in prerevolutionary Cuba to judge him and the revolution he led in all fairness, a serious example of capitalism gone awry and in dire need of revolutionary change.

On our door-step in East Timor a similar struggle occured, no thanks to us. Fidel stood up to the might on his door-step in Cuba and whatever your political pursuasion, the story is epic. In 200 years people will read in awe of Senor Castro. Without him we wouldn't have petrol and Castrol is a gas gas gas.
