I was just wondering if anyone has tried using Pale malt in a Pilsner. I have a fair bit of JW Pale and only 1.6kg of pilsner malt and was plannning on doing a pilsner.
My only thought would be that the Pale malt will add a bit more body than a pilsner malt, which would not be a bad thing.

Recipe would be roughly

50% JW Pale
30% JW Munich
20% JW Pils
WLP800 Pilsner lager yeast
Magnum for bittering and Halertaur for flavour aroma or Tettnang hops right through. Haven't decided on the hops yet.

Anyone done this?

I wouldn't worry about it, wack it in, not much difference between the two malts IMO esp if they are both JW.

Was going to say it will end up darker, but with 30% munich in there you won't notice. I'm sure there's a difference in the taste, but you'd have to do a side by side to tell (or at keast I would)
