IT'S BACK: THE ANHC BEER AND FOOD PAIRING DINNER

Tickets available from www.anhc.com.au from 6.00pm Sunday, July 31

There is little that can enhance the enjoyment of a great beer more than a well chosen, beautifully prepared dish - just ask anyone who has attended the ANHC Beer and Food pairing dinners.

The dinners have been one of the highlights of the Australian National Homebrewing Conferences, going well beyond a normal pairing event: four leading homebrewers produced a unique beer to enjoy with extraordinary cutting edge cuisine prepared by the teaching staff and students at Australias leading culinary institute, the William Angliss Institute.

Demand was so high for previous years events that many missed out, so it is with great pleasure that we announce the return of the dinner for another year. Once more, four of Australias leading homebrewers, each a category winner in the Australian Amateur Brewing Championship (the pinnacle of Australian homebrewing), have been busy brewing their favourite beers, while this year the food is being chosen by a panel of experts, including two leading names in the field.

Scott Thomas The Chef Behind The Bar, is working William Angliss head chef David Williamson and his students to create unique, unforgettable dishes. So come along and see how our two Gastronomic Guru's blend the flavour of 4 hand crafted homebrewed beers with some of the best food you've had in a month of Sundays.

The dinner takes place on September 9, 2011 at William Angliss College Restaurant 550 Little Lonsdale Street, Melbourne. Tickets cost $90 per person and are on sale from www.anhc.com.au from 6.00pm Sunday, July 31 2011.

This is a fantastic opportunity to sample some of Australias greatest home crafted beers paired with food created and prepared by some of Melbournes best up and coming chefs. Places are limited so get in quick before the chance passes for another year.

Scott Thomas Bio

Scott has a passion for food that flourished during his time working in the pubs of London. Since returning to Melbourne Scott has established himself and his two award winning pubs (The Courthouse and The Montague Hotel) as a compass for future trends in pub dining.

Apart from running two great venues, Scott has also published one hell of a book, 'The Chef Behind The Bar' which contains over 60 mouth-watering recipes ranging from snacks right through to desserts, he's got everything on the menu covered.

Struggling to think of a great fathers day gift? Why not shout yourself a ticket to what is arguably the best pairing dinner youll experience before ANHC 2012!

This years dinner will be a 5 course feast, with 5 brilliant beers produced by some of the countrys best homebrewers, perfectly paired by our guest chef Scott Thomas and William Angliss Scott Cavanagh, and beautifully prepared and presented by some of Australias most impressive up and coming chefs.

Weve conscripted some prominent Melbourne brewers for this year, as well as one of our brewing friends from Canberra, so heres some info about them:

Mark Hibberd (VIC)
Mark has been brewing, entering and winning competitions for almost 20 years. He was Australias first National BJCP judge and has played a key role in organising the Victorian state championships VicBrew as well as the Australian Amateur Brewing Championships for more than a decade. Most recently he has helped organise the very successful Australian National Homebrewing Conferences.
His background in fluid dynamics, his desire to know how everything works, and his interest in cooking led to a career in atmospheric science and a passion for making great beer. Mark is a member of the Bayside Brewers club in Melbourne and enjoys drinking almost all beer styles as well as the occasional homebrewed mead, cider and perry.

Ross Mitchell (ACT)
Ross Mitchell started brewing on New Year's Eve 1987 after giving up waiting for the birth of his second child, who promptly appeared soon after the yeast was pitched. Although a reluctant competitor, Ross won Novice Brewer at VicBrew 2001, then moved to the ACT the following year where he joined Canberra Brewers. Spurred on by the high club standard, Ross won Champion Brewer at the AABC in 2008 and 2009, having previously qualified as a National BJCP judge in 2005. Ross's brewing interests have recently diversified to include a Belgian Trappist tour. Last year his homage to Orval won the specialty category at AABC.

The dinner takes place on September 9, 2011 at William Angliss College Restaurant 550 Little Lonsdale Street, Melbourne.

Tickets cost $90 per person and are on sale from www.anhc.com.au now!
