After finishing the sparge on a barleywine i'm brewing I checked the gravity of the final runnings and it was up around the 1.055 mark.

So i ran acouple of kettles of water through the tun and now have those runnings in a seperate pot. I am thinking of using this as a starter, however it tastes alittle astringent.

If I use the seperate wort as a starter and discard the beer before pitching do you think it would turn out ok??
