Every time I open my fridge there is a stale smell there. I was wondering what you use to get rid of this smell?

Would a bowl of Bi-Carb Soda work or will there be a problem with the beer if used it while fermenting?

I give mine a squirt of starsan after every brew,I also have a tub of DAMPRID[avail at supermarket] in the bottom under the shelf seems to keep it mould & smell free but you will always get a co2 smell during fermentation when you first open the door

CO2 is odorless so that's not what you are smelling Zabond.

When not in use I keep my ferm fridge door slightly ajar, I remember someone telling me to do this with switched off fridges years ago. Otherwise I clean it with spray and wipe and/or elbow grease.

cheers

+1 on vinegar, great deodoriser. If needs be you could always spray it with Glen 20 or something similar.

I am aware to leavethe door open while not in use and I like to think I have good cleaning habits before and after a brew. However, I am looking for something to stop the smell while it is going.

Vinegar or vanilla essence could do the trick. I'll give that a go.

Thanks

I use an open box of McKenzies Bi-Carb which absorbs the smells + you can then use it for cleaning.

PS. you can use barbeque brickets too the carbon also absorbs the in fridge pongs.

After a good clean give it a wipe with vanilla essence and it will smell sweet for a while.

i leave mine ajar after use, also give it a good wipe down with weak bleach between uses.

Habe a bowl of dry baking soda in there which seems to soak up the ferm odours to keep the missus happy. Personally would be quite happy if the fermenting fong invaded the whole house, but the sacrifices I make...... !

# Cat litter can also work to help eliminate odors. Do the same method of placing a shallow layer of it in a pan and place in your refrigerator. It will pull the smells out of the air. Leave it this way for several days, running empty and on low
# Coffee grounds are known for their ability to absorb the flavors of the things around them.
