Don't know if a Telstra TV is an option for them. It's actually a Roku so a reasonably decent bit of kit.

If the TV doesn't have HDMI then what compartment of the Ark was it stored in before delivery?

We're using Google's Chromecast, but it does require an HDMI socket on the tv.
Their tv has hdmi sockets on tv but can not use a lengthy cable to connect to pc. So short cables where the sourcing unit is by the tv is ok.

The Chromecast is like a USB drive in that there is no separate unit connected by a cable - just plug it into the HDMI port like you would a thumbdrive into a USB port. Super handy.

If the TV has HDMI then any smart device will work. The first one would work too as it has AV output. It doesn't need to be plugged into the computer. Just connect it to the TV and setup the wireless on the device so it connects to the Internet.

Hdmi to rca (either component or composite) is a digital to analog conversion and requires a complicated conversion box.

Previous suggestions of a chromecast imo are better as advice. Personally i prefer a cheap box you can load kodi on.

With a Chromecast if they have WiFi then that communicates directly with the Chromecast plugged into a HDMI socket.
