I have a cider brew sitting in the fermenter ready to keg. Tastes ok, but it has a slight skunky smell to it, smells a little like toilet water or waste water.
Its a brigalow brew with a kilo of dex.

Should I keg it? Whats the likely cause?

Cheers Mick

Problem solved. :p Sorry, couldn't help myself. I've heard not-so-great things about this brand. What was the;

- ferment temperature?

Around 25

- yeast (the one that came with the kit?)

Yes
- cleaning product used to clean the fermenter?

PBW and starsan

It surprises me that it might be the kit, I have done four or five in the last few months and have had good results at higher temps.

I've done brigalow cider kits that came out fine. Boring but fine.

The one that came out sulphury was in a fermenter sanitised with sodium met but not rinsed (as per instructions on the container - I know rinse and have no trouble). The bottles were likewise. Cider and sulphur are not friends.

Cider takes a bit longer in primary and bottles than beer so don't be afraid to leave it in bottles for longer or even consider racking it to a secondary container and leaving for another week.
