Hopefully I'll be doing my 4th AG, an ale, meant to be similar to JS Golden. Got the recipe from one of the posts here, but am mucking around with the hop amounts a bit... but it's pretty difficult to understand what a 5g change in hop weights will do when you're starting out! Wish me luck!

I'm thinking I might try AG no 5 - I fancy making a Pilsner with probably 95% Pilsner malt and 5% Carapils to an IBU of about 30 or 35 with some Saaz I think might be the go

Thats if the wife hasn't planned anything and lets me of course!

:D

Dual Hop-backs! Can't do that with the"no chill" method!
Doc,Looking at the recipe must be that" Lupulin Threshold shift" kicking in

Smokey Choc porter for me on monday

I series of wheats, a heffe, wit and american. Will be the first wheat attempts.

Cheers

First AG brew day(Timothy Talyor inspired brew) completed and very pleased with how it progressed. I managed to get ~67% efficiency and will make up the shortfall with dextrose. All cleaned up etc within 5hrs but grain was cracked , water prepped, hops weighed out etc etc.

I'm also going to try my first split fermentation - using 1275 and 1318(Cheers for the culture deebee  ). Looking forward to a direct comparison of yeast strains rather than seperate brews of differing vintages/ingredient age etc.

Thanks all for the info and a big thanks to all the sandgropers who enticed me to the darkside....I'm planning the next brew already and can't wait. Will have to host a brew day one of these days..........

Cheers
Chilla
