Man, when living in the US I loved Petes Wicked Ale. What mash temp are you using, Petes Wicked had quite a good body, so your german crystals may be a little short! But the recipe looks pretty darn good!

I'll try lookup my recipe for a brown and compare it.

I think I mashed at about 67 for this one.

That should be pretty good I would think, not sure how attenuative 1272, but, to be honest though I loved Petes Wicked, it did have too much body for my liking, six 330ml stubbies and you felt bloated! So a lighter mash regime would improve it IMO.

I think the recipe looks solid but could probably do with some light crystal or carapils as well to help up the body and add some more residual sweetness as Faser has noted. Will also give it another dimension of complexity. I dont mind the idea of the higher mash temp. It will have a higher FG to aid in the mouthfeel.

So how did it end up turning out or is she still in the fermenter?

absolutley amazing. It needed a bit more age than I would normally give any beer (6+weeks) for it to even out but it drank really really well. One of my favourites. I might have to do another batch to try out the extra body with lighter crystals and see how it goes.

Sounds good, I need to do myself an american brown sometime soon. American ales should be drank young so 6 weeks is getting a little on ;) Enjoy the hop aromas while they are there!

agreed but this one doesn't have the mass of aroma hops added its more about the flavour, and the extra time helps let everything mingle nicely. Its good early, its better after a bit of age.
