Imperial Oatmeal Stout mkI

Stout - Imperial Stout
Partial
- - - - -

Brewer's Notes

Nice smooth flavours already at six months (almost!) Faint liquorice and dark chocolate in nice balance with english hops, smooth alcohol warmth and extra smoothness from the oatmeal stout kit with extra oats.

Called mkI as there will definately be a mkII, possibly with a hefty whack of chocolate malt. Kit was Malt shovel oatmeal stout, added at flameout, so more bitter than shown. Amber was bairds, oats were rolled quick oats.

19/09/08: No places, but got 114/150 in the strong ale section at bathurst this year. Judges noted a lack of aroma and a slight sourness in the finish.
