So I smacked a pack of 3068 on Tuesday morning in preparation for a brew in the evening and left it in the temp controlled fridge.

Unfortunately I was waylaid until today and I go to the fridge and the plug has been knocked- a balmy 36C in the fridge and a smack pack that is about to explode.

The batch date is 26/1/16 so it is fresh however I am wondering what this heat has done to it. I threw it into a 1.5L starter on a stirplate and set the fridge at 20C. I plan to spin it up for a few days, brew on Sunday and spit it between a Hefe and a dunkel. Brewers friend tells me I will have enough viable cells but am unsure what the heat has done to it

Has my yeast been compromised and will it throw funky flavours? Was the starter the right thing to do and will there be enough viable cells for the 2 batches? Should I turf it and use my back up smackpack?

I'd go ahead, its just the pack, not a significant volume.. 36 is high though.

Judge on the performance of your starter
