Hi all
Who's brewed a gold winnign oatmeal stout and what's the secret? My last batch wasn't "gold winning".
 
I'm doing an *everything stout* which will look something like this. Not hoping for much, but just needing to get it out of my system!

That looks funky, have u tried a stout with all that smoked malt before?
 
I slow roasted 500g of home brand quick oats until they were golden. Did a single infusion mash for 60mins using BIAB method. Used a mix of JW choc malt and chit-chat (?). Fermented with S-04 @ 20C.

Turned out really nice, not as woody as some previous S-04 brews. I'll drag out the recipe if you're interested...

I just found the recipe it was an old one hand written in my old brew book

Its up on the DB now
