Hi all, hope your all doing well.

I wrote this post because I'm having some trouble understanding ingredient amounts from an American book. I'm making a chai-spiced mead and the ingredient in question is the honey. All the other measurements I can comprehend but the it calls for

'4 cups / 3 pounds honey'

Does this mean that you can choose to use 4 cups up to 3 pounds or that the amount is 4 cups and 3 pounds. Mainly it's the dash that is throwing me. If anyone could please offer some insight to this situation i would be very appreciative. Thanks :)

1 cup is 236ml
1ml of water is 1g
4 cups of water is 946g

496g is about 2 pounds

given honey is heavier than water, i would say 4 cups ~= 3 pounds of honey

1 cup is 250mL

2.2 pounds in a kg, where do you get 496g for 2 pounds from?
1oz = 28 grams.
16oz = 1 pound = 448 grams.

oops... dyslexic keyboard

946g ~= 2 pounds

i just used googles conversions and a bit of brain maths

well you had to go and ruin all the fun didnt you :p

Thanks for the super quick responses guys, much appreciated!
