Mikkeller are coming!

On the back of the huge success of Rogue late last year comes another of the most sought after breweries on the planet!

Mikkeller are two Danes who started brewing commercially in 2006. They have a broad and unique range of ales, having produced many of them in conjunction with some of the most highly acclaimed US craft breweries.
Check them out at: http://www.mikkeller.dk/index.php?id=6&land=1

Long overdue, if it wasn't for Carlsberg steamrolling nearly all the Danish breweries they might have actually acheived a place amongst the great brewing nations of Europe. I suppose with a small population only twice that of Sydney they aren't a sizeable push within Europe, however it's great to see a beer renaissance from there.

Visited Denmark when very young and loved it.

Who is the importer?

Those beers sound mighty tasty! :icon_cheers:

And hear I am promising myself I would back off buying awesome imported beers online for a while, and you dangle this in front of me! :p

Bigup to the slowbeer boys again! I'll certainly be taking advantage of some of these amazing beers when they reach our shores!

I was fortunate enough to taste Mikkellers first ever commercial "pilot" beer.

It was a home-brewed barley wine, but the day it was served they officially received their licensing. They continued to use the same home system (100L) for some time until contract brewing commenced at a larger brewery.

Seriously tasty beers - very friendly brewers.

Any news on when this will hit the IBS?

Beers are coming in through Brisbane - I've had the fortunate task of tasting them all & giving my 2c worth in the selection process of new beers/breweries this importer is representing.... you guys are in for a treat.

cheers Ross

Hey kook,
have you forgotten my indlugence of breakfast stout at a christmas gig a few years ago?
no idea which beers are coming, but you cna be sure the IBS will push the price envelope as high as possible

Its look Cookery or anything for that matter, people are born to be something in life, these/this guy/s are obviously meant to be Brewers...

The few Mikkeller beers I've had overseas have been fantastic, and if the full range is imported here well I'll be breaking the bank to try them...damn I spend way too much coin on beer as it is B)

first off fair play to the good folk at cloudwine for yet again sourcing some damn exciting commercial beers for us all

as for how much it will eventually cost us to taste some of these fine brews.........?

it says on the blog on the mikkeller site that the mikkels monster goes for 100kr which is about $26. so if that's what it worth locally where they are brewed what do you reckon we'll end up forking out for them, double? (granted the monster is a 600ml bottle of 13% barleywine)

if only it was closer to my birthday or christmas or father's day or something

I do remember having the chance to try it at Simons, though subsequent beers may have clouded my memory as to my impression. I can't wait to revisit it though!

If I remember right Mikkel and his brother Jeppe (who runs an amazing beer store in Copenhagen) are both school teachers!

Just checked their website. Shame they're not bringing in the Beer Geek Brunch (Weasel). Check out this description.... "This imperial Oatmeal stout is brewed with one of the worlds most expensive coffees, made from droppings of weasel-like civet cats. The fussy Southeast Asian animals only eat the best and ripest coffee berries. Enzymes in their digestive system help to break down the bean. Workers collect the bean-containing droppings for Civet or Weasel Coffee. The exceedingly rare Civet"

Have to try that once in your life, eh!

Cheers - Snow.

Snow, there should be more of the range in the next shipment. The current shipment is very limited, so if there's a beer you want to try, don't procrastinate, or you'll miss out.

Cheers Ross

dont tell me you've got it in stock at CB Ross? if so maybe i'll have to get you to jam a few into some kegs I need and ship them down!
