Malts? Do you mean every malt, from every maltster, from all over the world?

Wow. That's quite a statement, even for you.

Quite a statement, yes.

True?

Yes, anything you have put through your mill and more.

cheers

Darren

Every maltster in the world contacted you and asked you to be Australia's only distributor of malted grain?

How did that work with Fosters et al?

No, not every maltster in the world contacted me. I contacted them.

10 years ago you could walk up to the maltster and grab any bag of malt for about $10.

How did it work you ask? Very well infact.

cheers

And they wanted you to be the sole distributor of their products in Australia, removing any sales relationships with existing breweries?

How did this work considering many of the breweries actually own the maltsters? Why on earth would they add a middle man to the picture?

Ahh... anyone who runs a business, that sells anything to a community of hobbyists is pure evil. Makes sense! Buy direct from the source, trade wares/services for other wares/services...

It's almost flying the red flag!

Wow! Feel the rage butters!

I won't go as far as that to sum up my feelings but to put it simply I'd have never gotten into AG brewing if it wasn't for AHB. For the information it gives and the ability to order products online from (gasp!) the site sponsors. Living in the centre of NSW leaves a lot to be desired in terms of choice for brewing supplies (two narrow shelves at the local IGA). I have also used retailers other than the site sponsors but go back to them for their top-notch service and quality merchandise.

If you have such a problem with the way AHB has become, why don't you just leave? I think you'll find that the retailers are here to stay (thankfully)

Edit: This won't make as much sense now without butters potty-mouth!

I think your and Butters posts sum it up nicely. Watch Butters cry-foulest when his malt prices rise.

cheers

PS: I dont see any person who has met or dealt with me complaining like those who have never met or dealt with me :icon_cheers:

I don't understand this thread... should I be sourcing all my homebrewing equipment and ingedients from wholesalers?? im confused

"Brewing retailers are present, and most are staying in business but I doubt they're on "Easy Street". It's not going to change, get used to it. It's 2009, 10 years ago was 10 years ago. Stop living in the past and deal with the present."

thanks for linking back to that other thread, i was wondering how that one would turn out. anyway, i'll just quote adamt as he said it pretty nicely.

as for myself, i dont give a **** what was going on ten years ago. if you want to do things that way, with whatever weas or wasnt available, good luck to ya. seem like there are plenty of people, myself included, happy with how things are going right now (well, with home brewing, not the economy). all the info i could ever want is right here, and all the ingredients and gear i could ever use are easily available at the top of the page. if that upsets you too bad. im not sorry, and im not about to change just so we can all go back to how it was back in the good old days.
