All the best to everyone from me and mine. I hope everyone has an awesome (but safe) Christmas holiday, and a prosperous New Year.

I have a quiet day planned with the family at home with the main focus points being a ridiculously huge christmas ham, the christmas swap case, and watching the young fella try and break his neck on his new trampoline....not looking forward to that last bit actually :( ....

I know there are a couple of guys (you'll know who you are in the morning :D ) that have little beerbelly surprises waiting for them organised by their lovely wives , enjoy! And no - I'm SURE they won't mind if you have to put a christmas day brew down to christen it..................

No longneck for Santa, he already knows where the taps and glasses are....

cheers!!

Wayne

Thought this would be fitting at this point.

'Twas The Homebrewer's Night Before Christmas

'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house, Every creature was thirsty, including the mouse...
The steins were empty, and the bottles were too The beer had been drunk with no time to brew.

My family was nestled all snug in their beds While visions of Christmas Ale foamed in their heads.
Mama in her kerchief lamented the drought, She craved a pilsner and I, a stout.

When out on the lawn, there arose such a clatter, I sprang from my chair to see what was the matter.
Away to the kitchen, I flew like a flash, Opening the door with a loud bang and crash!

I threw on the switch and the lights, all aglow, Gave a luster of mid-day to the brew-pot below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear But Gambrinus himself, the patron of beer.

With a look in his eye, so lively and quick, He said, "You want beer? Well, here, take your pick."
More rapid than eagles, his recipes came As he whistled and shouted and called them by name.

"Now, Pilsener! Now, Porter! Now, Stout and Now Maerzen!
On, Bitter! On, Lager! On, Bock and On Weizen!"
"To the top of the bottles, the short and the tall, Now brew away, brew away, and fill them all!"

As dried hops before a wild hurricane fly, And then, without warning, settle down with a sigh, So towards the brew-pot, the ingredients flew, Malt extract, roasted barley and crystal malt, too.

And then in a twinkling, I heard it quite plain, The cracking open of each barley grain.
As I drew in my head and was turning around, Into the kitchen, he came with a bound.

He was dressed like a knight, from his head to his toes, With an old family crest adorning his clothes.
A bundle of hops, he had flung on his back, And the brewing began when he opened his pack.

His hops were so fragrant! His barley, how sweet!
The adjuncts included Munich malt and some wheat.
The malted barley was mashed in the tun, Then boiled with hops in the brew-pot 'till done.

Excitement had me gnashing my teeth,
As the sweet smell encircled my head like a wreath.
Beer yeast was pitched, both lager and ale, The wort quickly fermented, not once did it fail.

It was then krausened, or with sugar primed, And just being bottled when midnight had chimed.
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head, Soon gave me to know, I'd be shortly in bed.

He spoke not a word but kept on with his work, And capped all the bottles, then turned with a jerk.
And laying a finger alongside his nose,
He belched (quite a burp!) before he arose.

Clean-up was easy, with only a whistle,
And away the mess flew, like the down on a thistle.

And I heard him exclaim, 'ere he left me the beer, "Merry Christmas to all and a HOPPY New Year!"

Thought this would be fitting at this point.

How does one follow that?
No point trying.
I got about 70 litres of homebrew to announce my return to brewing. Two batches I know are acceptable.
The other three I'll find out tomorrow. That's my Christmas present to me (and a Cohiba cigar from my recent trip to Cuba)
I look forward to the New Year and expanding my brewing experience beyond the instruction sheet. :D

Cheers to one and all at AHB.
Ant.

Merry Christmas

To all at AHB. Thany you all for the information I have read in the posts. To date since joining the forum I am now kegging my brews and have converted a fridge. Also you have tempted me to try AG brewing and my equipment acquisition is gaining momentum. I am Addicted to my new hobby and SWMBO bought me my first home brew kit so it is all her fault. I wonder what I will get for christmas. :p

Cheers, Have a Safe and Merry Christmas B)

Merry Christmas all!

Head, I enjoyed the poem.

It's traditional in Balgownie for us local firies to escort Santa around town to chat with kiddies and give gifts of lollies. Today we successfully kept the custom.

Gee it's a big job! Three Santas on the run, two aboard fire trucks and one doing the CBD & the pub.

I've just finished assembling a trampoline that Santa asked me to help out with for my eldest daughter.

I can't wait for morning, although I hope it comes later rather than sooner.

All the best everyone.

Warm regards,
Scott

If only I could take credit for that poem but ALAS I cannot. Copied from the work forums but glad someone else got a laugh out of it.

Hi all,

It's xmas eve here and I'm just about to leave the house to spend the rest of the afternoon and the majority of the evening with my inlaws, or as I call them, the 'gruesome twosome'. Believe me when I say I'm counting the minutes until I can have a homebrew when I get home. At least xmas morning will be spent with the ones I love, my wife & kids, and I will cherish that quiet time. I will cherish it because the rest of xmas day will also be spent with the inlaws. <_<

Have a great day everyone, and enjoy the time you have with the ones you love. And somehow tough it through the time you have to spend with people you can't stand. :D
