Hello All,
I've been looking to replace my handheld digital thermometer, and I've found a reasonable priced mercury-in-glass one at Farnell - link
It's priced at $10.80 + GST, and there would be a freight charge as well (about $7 I think).
Obviously at this price it's not a precisely they're not a calibrated thermometer - but I have access to good calibrated thermometers at my work so I could check it against one of these.
I'm led to believe that mercury thermometers are more stable than the red alcohol filled ones, but it has the potentially nasty heavy metal inside if I broke the thing.
Any thoughts/comments from the experienced brewers in here? They also have alcohol filled ones at $8.80 + GST.
