Hi guys, I have just placed an order for a March pump (809 plhs) and was wondering how do u control flow? I guess a s/s ball valve on the out-let, but can u close it off far enough for a nice slow sparge without blowing up the motor? I guess you would not want to completely shut the valve off with the pump running but it would not be far off it when sparging.

As far as im am aware, these are magnetic drive pumps, so as long as you have the input to the pump open, the output can be shut

You can shut the output off completely and it won't hurt the pump. Open the valve to your required flow. It's infinitely variable, and being magnetically coupled won't hurt it one bit. That's why we are using the mag drive pumps and not fixed impeller pumps, couple that with the sealless design.

Thank fellas, Thats what I thought. For about $240 delivered to Newcastle with a plug and mounting plate, thats a good deal.

Sorry Franko, I had computer probs yesterday when I was trying to say, " I got my pump on order from Dale at Process Pumps in Sydney". Just trying to work out how to set it all up now.
