I just bought a stir plate from here:

US$42 + postage, comes with two stir bars. Should be arriving soon (hopefully)

It runs on 12V DC. So I just need a universal plug AC adapter - which ive already got... But you can pick em up at Jaycar.

Livingstone referred THIS mob to me as a place to obtain stir bars in Brissy but I have yet to look for stir bars there.
