my esky Mash Tun is starting to get a bit old and warped and i was thinking of what i can use to make a new one, something that preferably isnt plastic.
has anyone used a laundry tub as a Mash Tun?
its stainless, you could put a false bottom in it and use the plug waste as a drain....
just not sure if the grain bed depth would be ideal??
thoughts?

cheers,

Stewart

i figured someone else must have done it but what i was getting at is why more people arent using them?
people spend $200-$300 on a pot for a s/s tun, i thought there must have been some reason for not using one or a reason why they're unsuitable.
you could get a second hand one for $20

Yeah I have an 80l ss sink sitting In the garage want to be converted into a tun
I think the reason I have done it yet is because my current tun is still going strong and I haven't had the need for an 80L tun :D

Cheers matho

Pretty good idea really. Insulate the underside of the sink with camping mat or even some polyester bats. Make a basic lid with the same.
