Ive knocked a couple of K&K's now and all I can taste / smell is a strong soapy sourness. Ive (mostly) discounted infection

as there was nothing other that the taste to suggest it. The interesting thing is only me and one other bloke can taste it everyone

else just tastes a nice clean beer.

Two questions:

Is this kit twang

What can i do about it, i can only assume some kind of AG/partial ?

We all taste things differently on some level but I can't say I've ever noticed twang to be soapy or sour. Metallic and chemical (but not medicinal)? Yeah that's how it comes across to me. I wouldn't be too quick to discount some low level infection that you're maybe more sensitive to than your mates? Can you describe your cleaning routine (brew and bottles)? But if it is kit twang, the best way I've found to counter it is lots of malt and lots of hops (bittering addition essential). Of course when you're doing that you may as well be doing an extract brew, as you've correctly surmised already.
 
could still be my cleaning, I use no rinse on everything but still

would dried malt be better than goop Im looking to move to mini mash / extract for next brew ?
 
What is your fermentation like? Temp and time?
 
How long was it in the fermenter before you bottled it, after it was finished?

I get a soapy taste from Cascade Premium Lager and other people love it.
 
I used a Brewcraft munich larger kit (came with kit ) + 1kg LDME and S-23 yeast fermented for three weeks at 10- 14 deg.
 
Soapy is one possible "kit twang" taste. You can get soapy from either poor rinsing after using detergents, or you can also get soapiness from old malt extract (it's literally soap, hyrdolysed fats in the malt).

The sourness could be rolled into that soapiness, or it could be from an infection. Is the sourness a "sweaty" or "horsey" sourness? Is it acidic like vinegar? Like sour milk? Any of these and it's likely an infection.

However, it may be hard to determine the exact problem from your descriptors, because as bum said, everyone tastes things differently and everyone describes them differently.

Getting fresher extract could possibly solve your problem.
