This may be a no brainer but how long do you think a kit can last just sitting there in the sun until it goes bad?

The can should be fine until close to Expiry date the yeast may not like the heat from the sun so use it as nutrient and buy some proper yeast. A bit of a how long is a piece of string question :D

The kit is pretty well sealed so i imagine it would depend on ambient temperature and the colour of your kit can (black can gets hotter than white can).

Not sure if anyone has a real answer so you might be the person to experiment and find one :)

When stored at high temps, liquid malt extract becomes darker in colour, and the flavours also change. These changes are not (in my experience) positive ones. Years ago I brewed a can of Coopers draught (pale malt) that had been sitting in my garage for a few years and was passed the use by date by a couple of years. The malt had turned completely black, hop aroma and flavour was negligable and needless to say the beer produced was very below underaverage.
Cheers, John.

Exactly 14 1/2 days, or 348 hours, but allowing for sitting in full sun, say, around 6 hours a day? 87 continuous hours.

No more, no less.
