I would appreciate direction to the thread containing all ofthe K and K recipes. I have spent ages trying to find it without luck. I am about to put down my 4th batch and have started using hallertau hops in my last two brews (a bock and a Grolsch knock off). I love it!

Any help would be great. Cheers

Good on you Steve. Cheers. Which HB store do you use in Canberra?

Steve

P.S. There was a thread on here for best kit n kilos....I couldnt find it.

the thread is out there. just keep looking. until then check out these receipes. it will keep you going for a while. most have been pullled off AHB.

Thanks Morgue. Much appreciated - some good stuff in there.

:D cheers.

Theres a good 90 or more receipes there and thats just the files on my work computer. My files from home are more updated and will have more receipes. I'll post at some stage.

and if anyone is reading this thread and is doing the Vic xmas swap dont even think about using the receipe for Kenzie Hop draught. I think im doing another version of that for the swap! I had one last night after 3 weeks in the bottle and it was bloody nice. Real damn hoppy. Im thinking of throwing another hop in there and almost making it a hopburst style.

Anyone know of a kit recipe that is similar to a mountain goat Hightail ale or pale ale?

Been looking and can't find anything.
Or I guess an extract recipe would do.

Thanks Cortez, Eddy.

That should keep me going for a while! :beerbang:

If you want to save yourself some time, the files ive posted have a lot of the receipes (well the ones i thought sounded good) from those threads. but by all means look at the threads as you'll prob pick up some extra brewing info on the way.

I'm still new to all this, and have been using simple recipes, and attempting other peoples recipes.

This is my first attempt at creating my own recipe. -

Morgans Royal Oak Amber Ale Kit
500g dark malt extract
500g dextrose
250g dried corn syrup
15g armarillo @ 40mins
10g armarillo @ 20mins
Safale yeast

Made to 22L
Estimate 4.9 Alc/Vol

What do people think? will it be any good? I'm worried about using dark malt extract. Will it make it almost like a porter? should I use light malt instead? what do you think it will taste like? is there anything that should possibly be added or subtracted to/from my recipe?

Basically I need some re-assurance! hehe
Still trying to guage what goes with what

If it tastes like cats piss, i'll be happy to take it off you're hands!

And since we're brothers, i guess i'll be drinking it anyway! haha

Sounds porter-esque using the kit and dark malt, but the rest of the ingredients lean more toward a light bodied APA style especially using Amarillo. If you replace the dextrose and corn surup for malt, possibly pale, that'd give you a more robust body, and up'd the hops a bit, possibly dry hopping, you'd end with some nice fruity hop character, and a beer that i'd best describe as an American Dark Ale...not that that is considered a particular variety of beer.

Cool... thanks for the advice... I think I'll do what you said, remove the corn syrup and dextrose, and add 1kg light malt. Then dry hop with some extra amarillo.... should turn out a bit different but hopefully a good drop!

Cheers!
